Charice - Charice Pempengco Used Botox To Prepare For Glee

CHARICE PEMPENGCO, the 18-year-old Filipino teenager whose singing voice wowed OPRAH WINFREY, has admitted to getting Botox injections to prepare for an appearance on hit show 'Glee', reports The New York Times. Before filming an episode  of the highly successful series, Pempengco had injections and a skin-tightening treatment called 'thermage', telling Philippine television, "I want to look fresh when I appear before the camera".

The news has caused a stir in the media, with The New York Times suggesting that certain publications had "chimed in to lament the regrettable message sent to young fans of Glee, a show with a theme of self-acceptance".

The newspaper also reports that it is unknown how many youngsters currently use Botox, but that it "is approved by the F.D.A. to be used therapeutically in children as young as 12 with abnormal twitching of the eyelid or crossed eyes. It can also help patients 16 and older with involuntary contraction of neck muscles".
Pempengco made her debut on Glee on 21st September 2010 as 'Sunshine Corazon', a Filipino exchange student. Reactions to her first appearance have generally been positive, and the musician JOSH GROBAN, who starred in the first season of the show, posted a comment on his Twitter page that read "Charice. Great job on Glee! Very happy that so many people will hear your beautiful voice".

Titanic sunk by steering mistake

LONDON - THE Titanic hit an iceberg in 1912 because of a basic steering error, and only sank as fast as it did because an official persuaded the captain to continue sailing, an author said in an interview published on Wednesday.

Louise Patten, a writer and granddaughter of Titanic second officer Charles Lightoller, said the truth about what happened nearly 100 years ago had been hidden for fear of tarnishing the reputation of her grandfather, who later became a war hero.

Lightoller, the most senior officer to have survived the disaster, covered up the error in two inquiries on both sides of the Atlantic because he was worried it would bankrupt the ill-fated liner's owners and put his colleagues out of a job.

'They could easily have avoided the iceberg if it wasn't for the blunder,' Patten told the Daily Telegraph.

'Instead of steering Titanic safely round to the left of the iceberg, once it had been spotted dead ahead, the steersman, Robert Hitchins, had panicked and turned it the wrong way.' Patten, who made the revelations to coincide with the publication of her new novel 'Good as Gold' into which her account of events are woven, said that the conversion from sail ships to steam meant there were two different steering systems.

The Titanic hit an iceberg in 1912 because of a basic steering error, and only sank as fast as it did because an official persuaded the captain to continue sailing, an author says.

"They could easily have avoided the iceberg if it wasn't for the blunder," Patten told the Daily Telegraph.

"Instead of steering Titanic safely round to the left of the iceberg, once it had been spotted dead ahead, the steersman, Robert Hitchins, had panicked and turned it the wrong way."Patten, who made the revelations to coincide with the publication of her new novel Good as Gold into which her account of events are woven, said that the conversion from sail ships to steam meant there were two different steering systems. Crucially, one system meant turning the wheel one way and the other in completely the opposite direction. Once the mistake had been made, Patten added, "they only had four minutes to change course and by the time (first officer William) Murdoch spotted Hitchins' mistake and then tried to rectify it, it was too late."

Patten's grandfather was not on watch at the time of the collision, but he was present at a final meeting of the ship's officers before the Titanic went down. There he heard not only about the fatal mistake but also the fact that J. Bruce Ismay, chairman of Titanic's owner the White Star Line persuaded the captain to continue sailing, sinking the ship hours faster than would otherwise have happened. "If Titanic had stood still, she would have survived at least until the rescue ship came and no one need have died," Patten said.

The RMS Titanic was the world's biggest passenger liner when it left Southampton, England, for New York on its maiden voyage on April 10, 1912. Four days into the trip, the ship hit an iceberg and sank, taking more than 1500 passengers with it.

Katherine Jackson says the AEG is partly responsible for Jackson's death...

Michael Jackson's mother sues concert promoter AEG; company says lawsuit is 'meritless'. Michael Jackson's mother and entertainment giant AEG are clashing publicly over her lawsuit that claims the promoters failed to provide her son's doctor with lifesaving equipment before the performer's planned comeback tour. In her lawsuit, Katherine Jackson says the AEG is partly responsible for Jackson's death because he was preparing for the firm's comeback tour and should provide compensation to his family.

September 17, 2010 |  8:02 am

Dr. Conrad Murray, who has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the pop star's June 2009 death, was hired to be paid by AEG as Jackson's personal caregiver during his concert preparation.  Jackson was said to have had specially requested the hiring of Conrad, who was to be paid along with other expenses AEG Live had taken on for the pop star before his planned concert tour.

Murray had agreed to be paid $150,000 a month, and even shuttered his Las Vegas practice as he tended to Jackson. He is accused of giving the singer a lethal amount of propofol, a powerful anesthetic drug used in operating rooms, as well as other heavy sedatives. Murray told investigators that Jackson was a chronic insomniac who had depended for years on propofol to sleep, according to police affidavits filed in court.

But in a statement, AEG called the suit "unsubstantiated and meritless."Dr. Murray was Jackson's longtime personal physician. AEG did not choose him, hire him or supervise him.  That said, and in honor of our professional relationship with Mr. Jackson and his Estate, we will have no further public statements," the statement said.

Enjoyed Second Romantic Date This Week on JENNIFER Aniston

JENNIFER Aniston has enjoyed her second romantic date this week. After being spotted having a cosy dinner with Lindsay Lohan’s ex boyfriend Harry Morton earlier in the week, the Switch actress went for an intimate meal with Cougar Town actor Josh Hopkins on Thursday and onlookers claim the pair only had eyes for each other.

“As he talked, Jen listened to him attentively not taking her eyes off of him,” a witness at the Madeo restaurant in Los Angeles revealed.
“Then as Jen talked, he did the same in return. It was as if the two were the only ones in the room.”

The 41-year-old actress who was recently linked to her ex-boyfriend singer John Mayer was said to be very comfortable with Josh as she drank a glass of white wine, water, and munched on half a salad.

“Jen managed to crack him up a few good times,” the source said. “She seemed comfortable enough to reapply her lip gloss right in front of him.”

However Jennifer who along with her date was dressed in white tried to keep a low profile. “The typically shy Jen wore her sun-kissed hair down with her layers disguising her face, and faced the back exit of the restaurant that was away from the majority of the establishment,” said Jen’s publicist the source.

Set After Accident Filming Postponed On Transformers 3

Michael Bay - Filming Postponed On Transformers 3 Set After Accident

The filming of 'Transformers 3' has been postponed after a young woman was seriously injured on the set of MICHAEL BAY'S new movie, reports the Daily Mail. 24-year-old Gabriella Cedillo was airlifted to hospital on Wednesday 1st September 2010 after being hit in the head whilst driving a car for a stunt in the film.

The British newspaper quotes the Indiana State Police as confirming "the crew were filming late last night in the Chicago suburb of Hammond, Indiana, using several vehicles and drivers. A cable under tension snapped and shot through the windshield of the Toyota driven by Cedillo." Despite the actress being unconscious, the vehicle she was driving continued for about a mile, before finally coming to a halt.

The new film is the third in MICHAEL BAY'S 'Transformers' franchise, and stars SHIA LABEOUF and British actress ROSIE HUNTINGTON-WHITELEY. It is due to be released in July 2011.

PRINCESS DIANA......... PRINCE PHILLIP WOULD KILL HER FOR .....SEX

PRINCESS DIANA FEARED PRINCE PHILLIP WOULD KILL HER FOR REFUSING SEX

TRAGIC Princess Diana feared Britain’s Prince Philip would kill her according to a shocking new report.

Author Ian Halperin alleges Diana who died 13-years-ago yesterday (August 31) –  told one of her closest friends six days before she died that she was terrified Philip would kill her because she refused a proposition he made to have sex with her one night in 1997.

The friend said Philip warned Di that if she didn’t sleep with him he would make her fear rebellion for the rest of her life.

“And he most certainly did,” said the longtime Diana friend. “He must have been loaded that night when he propositioned Diana but the dirty bastard was able to scare her to death.

“To this day I wonder if Prince Philip arranged the tragic car crash so he could off Diana and never have to fear her talking about what happened. “One thing I know for sure is that Diana would have never lied about something like this.”
